Car Care for Dummies

Many people learn how to drive without learning what all of the different fluids, gauges, and warning lights mean. This is for them.

Your Car’s Temperature Gauge and Engine Coolant

Contrary to what you might think, the temperature gauge on your dash doesn’t measure the temperature of the engine itself. This gauge actually measures the temperature of water or coolant in your vehicle. On a cold day, this gague will usually measure on the cold side when you start your vehicle, and your heater will blow cold air. As the gauge moves more toward the middle, the heater will begin blowing warm air. If the gague beings to read above the middle or “normal” range and it is not particularly hot outside, you need to have your vehicle’s cooling system checked as soon as possible. If the gauge begins reading in the “danger” zone (usually shown with a red area on the “H” side of the gauge), or the gauge begins reading all the way to the “H”, you need to pull over and turn the engine off immediately – your engine is overheating, which could cause serious engine damage. Autoclub fulfills Mesa man’s dying wish

“Its all I’ve ever heard from him and it’s going to be my last gift to him”

Dayton’s wife Kathleen told abc15 reporters.

I read an inspiring car story this morning about how a Mesa man suffering from cancer  had his dying wish to ride in a Shelby Cobra come true. According to the news article Dayton Rinard was diagnosed with prostate cancer and given only months to live.

His wife Kathleen made the arrangments to realize Dayton’s wish. Kathleen is diagnosed with cancer as well and was told by doctors that she could pass away within days. “Its all I’ve ever heard from him” Kathleen told reporters, “and its going to be my last gift to him”.

It was beautiful. I’ve never been in one before but I’ve wanted to since 1965″ – Dayton

Every car-enthusiast has a wish to be able to take a drive in their dream car. What a remarkable thing it is that his caring wife understood his passion and fulfilled her own wish of seeing the joy in her husbands face and leaving him with such a meaningful gift.

The Cobra Autoclub agreed to helping in seeing the wish come true and even went beyond that. Instead of showing up with just one Cobra for Daytons drive they showed up with 29 Shelby Cobras. The gorgeous cars caught so much attention abc15 reports that other hospital patients came out to admire these legendary machines and were given rides as well.

A touching story of loving couples and mans love for machine. To many, cars are simly a method of transportation, but to the rest of us they mean so much more.

Original article, photos, and video were posted  on abc15.com to read follow this link.

The Importance of Maintaining Your Motorhome

How can detailing your motorhome save you thousands in the long run? Here is an article from Reines RV Blog that discusses the importance of keeping the shine in your Motorhome and RV.

“When your motorhome, travel trailer or fifth wheel is kept clean and attractive, it can make a difference of several thousand dollars when you sell or trade it.  Just as when you sell your home or car, “shine can put a gleam in a buyer’s eye”.  And, you’ll enjoy using a camper that’s clean and well maintained!

Whether a camper is fiberglass or aluminum, UV rays, tree sap, bird droppings, acid rain and road salt will fade the paint if it’s not protected.

Your RV needs to be washed and waxed periodically.  Given the size of most RVs, many people aren’t able to wax them.

The interior’s condition will make a big difference in resale or trade-in value.  If there are carpet stains, dirty appliances, upholstery tears or stains, unpleasant odors, etc., your camper will not be as valuable as one that is clean.

When your RV is clean and beautiful, you’ll enjoy traveling in it and be proud to show it off when you reach your destination!”

Auto detailing facts, tips and tricks

Did you know that drive through car washes are bad for your vehicles paint? This is because dirt and grime from the person’s dirty truck before you gets caught in those spinning cloths and thus scratch your vehicle! This can create “Micro-marring” which is the fine “spider web” looking scratches in the paint. Luckily these can be removed by having a professional perform a thorough buffing and polishing service. The best way to clean your vehicle is to hand wash it using a professional grade automotive car wash shampoo using a “two bucket” method.

Have you ever heard of a “Polymer Paint Sealant”? This is the head honcho when it comes to paint protection! This paint sealant is applied like a wax, but because it is synthetic it is capable of protecting your paint 5 times longer than an ordinary Carnauba wax. When the paint sealant is applied to a smooth, clean, and freshly polished surface it will help maintain the gloss and protect it from oxidation, clear coat failure, and most importantly the Arizona sun!

There is a difference between “Waxing”, “Buffing” and “Polishing”. “Waxing” is the act of applying a thin layer of some type of paint protection, typically Carnauba waxes are used. “Waxing” typically will not remove any paint defects. “Buffing” and “Polishing” are renegademobiledetailing.com/services”target=”_self”title=”Services” >services that use abrasives to safely remove light scratches, oxidation and other paint defects.

If your paint doesn’t feel smooth to the touch of your finger after being washed then you need to have your vehicle receive the “Clay Bar” treatment. The reason why your paint is rough is because it has “surface contamination”. This means that there are little pieces of industrial fallout, rail dust, brake dust and also possible paint overspray. These contaminants cannot be removed by washing or polishing. Using detailing clay is the only way to make your paint feel smooth again! And no, we are not talking about Play-doh!

Do your kids make a mess of your car? After having your vehicles carpets, mats and seats shampooed we can apply a “carpet and fabric protectant” that will help prevent getting stains in your carpet. This protectant will repel stains and also make liquids bead up allowing you to wipe it off before it sets into the fabric.

Those dull and yellow headlights can become clear again! Instead of buying new headlights, you can save hundreds by having us “Restore” your headlights. This will make them clear again, thus making night driving much safer. Not to mention, it makes the vehicle look a lot better!

You are probably wondering how we are able to get carpets and seats so clean. Well I will let you in on a little secret! When we shampoo your carpets we go above and beyond to do our best to get them as clean as possible. We first complete a thorough vacuum then scrub it with a cleaning solution to loosen grime and stains. We then vacuum for the SECOND time, and FINALLY we separate ourselves from the rest of our competition by using a Heated Carpet Extractor. This machine is similar to the type of machine the professionals use to shampoo your house’s carpets. When we use this extractor we are able to shoot 210 degree hot water into the carpets, mats, and seats to properly remove stains, grime, chemical residue and odors. Unfortunately, if you were to have your carpets shampooed by one who do not use an extractor all the chemical residue will be left in your carpets!
